ZOMBIE BOY

Zombie boy is Rick Genest. He has a series of tattoos all over his body that make him look like a skeleton, or the living dead. He even tattooed his ears. Zombie boy is a model, and a performance artist. He appears in Lady GaGa's video "Born This Way." at 4:11 Zombie Boy appears. The detail of his tattoos are amazing.
in this picture, you can see the images of his skin decaying in the tattoo. You can also see his muscles. If you look closely, there is also a spider, making his look even more zombie like. I cant imagine how much this hurt.

FRAME BY FRAME ANIMATION!

To start off, frame by frame animation is the coolest thing ever. Sadly I have to attempt it by creating a flip book, and its much much much much MUCH harder than it looks. and unfortunately for me, my older sister got the artistic gene. check out her website, she's incredible. comic site and drawings/paintings galore.

My two best friends from high school are taking a film and animation class.
Adam, decided to make short commercials for the 4th Annual Hun School video festival using clay frame by frame animation. He calls it "Five Fruity Films." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxExZJTCfMI&feature=channel_video_title

Abby, recently did hers two weeks ago for a course in her major. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX-jE7Uozxc&feature=channel_video_title

i'm currently trying to complete my flip book. failure. oh well at least i'm trying!

Technology in Broadway Shows

This past class was based on the actual technical aspect of musical theater. I viewed clips from the website: http://angel-stagedoor.blogspot.com/ and watched clips of "Follies." In the first clip I pointed out elevated staging and stairs. There were a ton of background lights and shimmers as well. I scrolled through the website and found a clip from "The Sound of Music" and got really excited because I absolutely LOVE that show, so of course I had to watch it. Once again there was an elevated section of the stage and a long stairway leading probably on a balcony of off-stage right. In high school I worked a lot on building sets for the shows, and elevating the stage. Its amazing how much work could be done in such a short amount of time!

RODGERS AND HEMMERSTEIN
I performed in "South Pacific" my sophomore year or high school, so talking about how that show was a major turning point in history was very interesting to me. The show is about World War II and the tale of soldiers and natives. To me, it is interesting how Rodgers and Hemmerstein could take a subject that serious and turn it into a dramatic comedy.

Artistic Views

In my last post I forgot to mention my views on Juan Carlos Delgado, so here it goes. The link http://www.revistaexclama.com/arte/ has pictures of his latest art show. His sculptures are all frozen in time (literally) and it makes them look older. What I thought was most interesting was how there was a line of pictures of iced sculptures, followed by a sculpture of hands with fire in it. The mood Juan Carlos Delgado was in must have been completely opposite from the ice mood. I love how the fire makes the rest of the sculpture dark and mysterious.

Another thought: in class we talked about glowing shoes and such, and i stumbled upon this video and it reminded me of the class discussion.... because its all glowing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gJ2zkRseqs

First Day Intimidation as a Freshman

Okay so I'm completely new to this blogging thing, and I dont think twitter counts... but here's my first attempt! My name is Abby and I'm studying New Media Production. When I first saw Art and Technology on my schedule my first thought was "what the hell is BAS?!?" and "three.... hours." Since I have massive ADHD, I was dreading this class because there was NO WAY I would be able to sit that long. I felt like Jenna Marbles from youtube in her What Caffeine Does video. Specifically the "wanna go to the movies later?! JUST KIDDING I CANT SIT STILL."
Thankfully I survived the first class (almost barely), and got really excited about the course in general because it covers EVERYTHING I'm interested in. I'm hoping to grow a wider interest in the arts through this course.
